CELEBRATE! There’s a Party Going On Right Here!

We’ve had a few reasons to celebrate these past two weeks!  But then again, we can find lots of reasons to celebrate, especially in the summer on the boat! Let’s start with David’s birthday which stretched on for about a week. The  arrival of a new Isotherm freezer and refrigerator and installation, Cuttyhunk Fireworks, memorable sunrises and sunsets, favorite places and friends and the new friends we meet in our travels.

The friends we meet-Ryan, his wife Monica and son Charlie.
Hope is the name of their boat.

My “Pirate Family”  We met  them in Cuttyhunk 2 years ago and again this summer.  Magic is the name of their boat.

41North in Newport is a special, spot for us. The calm, relaxing atmosphere, cool, refreshing drinks and the helpful, kind and inviting staff make enjoying a birthday Bottle of champagne special. CELEBRATE!

Happy 69th birthday, David!

Fluke is becoming a birthday tradition for David.. Our favorite table gives us a “bird’s eye” view of the harbor. The food is always delicious, the atmosphere peaceful and the staff are friendly. CELEBRATE!

For a long time we have talked about installing a freezer in our galley in the ice box which we have, for years, filled with 25 pound blocks of ice. So we bit the bullet (with lots of encouragement from our new Catalina 42 friends on FB) and purchased 2 Isotherm units. A new fridge to replace the aging and overworked Adler Barbour and a plate unit for a new freezer. Ice forever! CELEBRATE!

Freezer installation complete!

A long anticipated trip to Cuttyhunk for their second annual Fireworks became an extension of David’s birthday celebration and the 4 day freezer installation project gave way to lobster and more reasons to CELEBRATE!

The lobster dinners from Lexi and Duane (Cuttyhunk Cafe) were the best lobsters we’ve had in a long time!

And the Cuttyhunk Fireworks were FANTASTIC!

Cuttyhunk Fireworks Light-up glasses. A MUST HAVE (well, for me, anyway)

Back in Newport the refrigerator replacement began in scorching heat. The cockpit and main salon were in disarray so we headed out of town for a light dinner with Perrin in his new F150 truck.  CELEBRATE!

New Isotherm Fridge installed. Combined the freezer and fridge use less voltage than the old Adler Barbour. A wise investment.

Perrin’s new “wheels”. Nice-especially since we have
 NO WHEELS. right now.

Sunrise and sunsets  in Newport, Cuttyhunk and the Vineyard are some of the best reasons to CELEBRATE.

AND THE BEST REASON TO CELEBRATE?

A clear MRI and more than a year Cancer Free!!

This means we can head to The Vineyard, attend Illumination Night, have dinner at the Red Cat in Oak Bluffs and watch the Oak Bluffs Fireworks on August 17

CELEBRATE!

August 19 Obsession will turn her bow to the south beginning with one last stop in Cuttyhunk, then Block Island, Greenport, and points along the northern Long Island coastline including Port Jefferson and Port Washington and possibly the southern Connecticut Coastline. First leg goal is NYC-Liberty Landing Marina Labor Day Weekend.

Join us as we begin our journey and travel down Long Island Sound, the Jersey Coast, the Delaware and Chesapeake Bays and along the ICW. I’m sure we will find many morereasons to CELEBRATE!
